If we only had a few hours to spend in Bonaire’s town of Kralendijk, Karel’s Beach Bar is where we’d go. Situated on one of the town piers, this bar and full-service restaurant boasts an unmatched view of the harbor, sea, and town. Order a bucket of Heinekens and watch parrotfish swim around the pier.

On the island of Bonaire, our favorite ice cream shop is Gio’s Gelateria. Located right on Kralendijk’s main drag, this cute euro-style cafe features two dozen flavors of delicious fresh-made gelato.

If you’d like a special treat, order a cup of coffee here. Even if you just order a $2.75 shot of espresso, it will arrive on a silver tray accompanied by a sample scoop of gelato and a little dish of whipped cream.
